Company Certification

Sustainable is defined as the responsible management of environmental, economic, and social resources, and encompasses the concept of stewardship.

Under the SAW certification programs, manufacturers of architectural woodwork and suppliers to the woodwork industry can apply for SAW certification of their companies.

Company Certification is based on performance criteria encompassing all aspects of a business; materials, production processes, and people policies.

MATERIAL — where materials are sourced from sustainable resources

PROCESS — where manufacturing and distribution processes are healthy and sustainable

PEOPLE — where company personnel are in synch and supportive of company sustainability goals

Key Elements of Certification

SAW program policies and procedures are listed in detail in the SAW Manual.

  • Companies apply annually for certification, accompanied by payment of a fee
  • Their claims for SAW certification must be supported by documentation as specified in the policies and procedures
  • Applications are reviewed by an independent 3rd party organization
  • Four program point levels are defined, Basic, Silver, Gold and Platinum.
  • A certification level is awarded to a company depending on actual points achieved
  • Points must be achieved from all three categories of material, process and people
  • Successful certification entitles a company to display the SAW logo and use of other branded materials
